Upgrade Beauty Bar

1. Who We Are

‍ ‍

Upgrade Beauty Bar ("we," "us," or "our") is a mobile beauty business operated as a sole proprietorship, providing lash, nail, and waxing services to clients in the Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and greater Triangle area of North Carolina.

‍ ‍

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through our website (upgradebeautybar.com), our online booking system, and our services, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using our website or booking a service with us, you agree to the practices described here.

‍ ‍

2. Information We Collect

‍ ‍

Information you give us directly:

‍ ‍

  • Contact and booking details — your name, email address, phone number, and the service address where we provide mobile services.

  • Appointment information — the services you book, dates and times, and any notes or preferences you share.

  • Payment information — when you pay or place a deposit, your card details are collected and processed by Square (our payment processor). We do not see or store your full card number. See Section 5.

  • Service intake and health information — to provide lash, nail, and waxing services safely, we may ask about allergies, skin sensitivities, medical conditions, medications, or pregnancy. This is sensitive information, and we use it only to deliver your service safely and to determine whether a service or patch test is appropriate. See Section 8.

  • Communications — messages you send us by email, text, social media, or our website forms.

‍ ‍

Information we collect automatically when you visit our website:

‍ ‍

  • Usage and device data — your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and how you arrived at our site, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

  • Analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager to understand how visitors use our site. These tools may set cookies and collect data as described in Section 6.

‍ ‍

3. How We Use Your Information

‍ ‍

We use your information to:

‍ ‍

  • Schedule, confirm, and provide your appointments and mobile beauty services;

  • Process deposits and payments and apply our deposit and cancellation policy;

  • Send appointment confirmations, reminders, and service-related messages by email or text;

  • Send marketing emails and text messages if you have opted in (see Section 7);

  • Respond to your questions and requests;

  • Operate, maintain, and improve our website and services;

  • Request reviews after your appointment;

  • Keep records and comply with our legal and tax obligations.

‍ ‍

We do not sell your personal information.

‍ ‍

4. How We Share Your Information

‍ ‍

We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run our business, and only as needed. These include:

‍ ‍

  • Squarespace / Acuity Scheduling — our website and online booking platform, which stores your booking and contact details.

  • Square — our payment processor, which handles deposits and payments.

  • Google (Analytics and Tag Manager) — website analytics.

  • Mailchimp (or our email service provider) — to send emails you've opted into.

  • Our SMS/text messaging provider — to send appointment reminders and any texts you've opted into.

‍ ‍

We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to legal process, to protect our rights or safety, or in connection with a sale or transfer of the business. Each provider handles your data under its own privacy terms.

‍ ‍

5. Payment Processing

‍ ‍

Payments and deposits are processed by Square. When you pay, your card information is collected and handled directly by Square under its own security standards and privacy policy. We do not store your full payment card number on our website or systems.

‍ ‍

Our deposit is non-refundable and is disclosed at the time of booking. Please see our Booking and Cancellation Policy for full details.

‍ ‍

6. Cookies and Analytics

‍ ‍

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to function properly and to help us understand site traffic through Google Analytics 4. Cookies are small files stored on your device.

‍ ‍

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features of the site may not work properly if you do. You can learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

‍ ‍

7. Email and Text (SMS) Marketing

‍ ‍

Email. If you opt in, we may send you promotional emails about specials, availability, and updates. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. Opting out of marketing emails does not stop service-related emails such as booking confirmations.

‍ ‍

Text messages (SMS). With your consent, we send appointment reminders and may send promotional texts. By providing your mobile number and agreeing to receive texts, you consent to receive these messages; message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, and you can reply HELP for assistance. We do not share your mobile number with third parties for their own marketing.

‍ ‍

Your consent to texts is not a condition of receiving our services.

‍ ‍

8. Health and Sensitive Information

‍ ‍

Because we provide lash, nail, and waxing services, we may collect health-related details such as allergies, skin conditions, medications, or pregnancy through our intake or consent forms. We treat this information as sensitive. We use it only to provide your service safely, to recommend or perform a patch test where appropriate, and to keep a record of your service. We do not use this information for marketing, and we do not sell it.

‍ ‍

9. Children's Privacy

‍ ‍

Our services may be provided to clients under the age of 18 (for example, students booking for formals or other events), but any booking for a minor must be made and authorized by a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for providing the minor's information and for being present or arranging supervision as appropriate for the service.

‍ ‍

Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent, consistent with the federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will delete it.

‍ ‍

10. Data Retention

‍ ‍

We keep your personal information for as long as needed to provide our services, maintain our business and client records, comply with our legal and tax obligations, and resolve any disputes. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable measures to securely dispose of it.

‍ ‍

11. Data Security

‍ ‍

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information, and our website is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection. Our booking and payment providers (Squarespace/Acuity and Square) maintain their own security protections for the data they handle. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

‍ ‍

12. Your Choices and Rights

‍ ‍

You can:

‍ ‍

  • Access or update the information you've given us by contacting us;

  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to records we are required to keep;

  • Opt out of marketing emails (unsubscribe link) and texts (reply STOP) at any time;

  • Control cookies through your browser settings.

‍ ‍

North Carolina does not currently have a comprehensive consumer privacy law that grants formal data-subject rights for a business of our size, but we honor reasonable access and deletion requests as a matter of good practice. To make a request, contact us using the details in Section 14.

‍ ‍

13. Third-Party Links

‍ ‍

Our website and social media may link to other sites, such as our Instagram or booking pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
